Set collection

Set collection is a scoring mechanic where players gather matching or complementary cards or items, scoring more for completing or extending a set. Sets can reward "all the same" (five reds) or "all different" (one of each color).

Why it matters

Set collection rewards focus over randomness — players plan toward a target set rather than maxing every individual turn. It pairs naturally with drafting, market-buying, or tableau-building.

Example

Ticket to Ride scores set collection two ways: a route ticket pays out if you complete a specific city pair, and trains of the same color let you claim longer routes for more points.
